Oil change question

Changing the oil on my car and have now got round to filling it after having to p155 about with the sump studs.

Someone had forced on wrong nyloc nuts and there was not enough of the stud visible with the sump plate on (nothing is ever straight forward )

Anyway - i've sorted the studs now and fitted new nuts and washers so my question is

Do i need to add a bit of oil to the filter canister or do i just fill the engine and let it work its way round?

I was just tempted to fill it about 1/4 full and fit it back together but it doesn't mention anything in the manual.

I would always put some oil in the can as you say it will make it's way round but if it's dry then it takes ages and could starve the engine of oil some where in the cycle. So just fill it about a 1/3rd

Also, its always good practice to pull the HT lead off the coil, and crank the engine until the green oil pressure warning light extinguishes before starting after a total oil change.
