2.0 badge black??
Just received my 2.0 badge from Mittelmotor to go on the back and it's Black plastic??? all the rest of badges on the back are chrome.. what gives?? Checked out Pelican parts website and they only stock black plastic ones too (at least they tell you they are black plastic - the mittelmotor website just says 2.0 badge.). Are the chrome ones not available anymore?? what do people do?? paint them silver??

The 2.0 badge was never available as a chrome version. For the 1973 model year when it was introduced the badge was black anodized aluminium, so it could be that somebody had polished up one of those. The plastic badge was introduced for the '74 model year and in 76 it went to a vinyl decal. As far as I know the aluminium badges have long since been unavailble new, but you may be able to find a used one.

Ah that explains it. The 914 and 1.7 badges that are presently on there are both polished ally. So it seems like my options are:
paint the 2.0 badge silver to match the 914 badge (I think this will end up looking shite)
paint the 914 badge matt black to match ( at the mo this is what I'll probably do)
paint both badges a different colour (a possibility but I don't know what colour to paint them)
The other compounding problem is that the car is black
What did Porsche do with black cars, did they just simply have black cars and black badges?

Yep, dead right! Daft eh. You could always have a trawl for an ally 2.0 badge and get them anodized at local plating shop, you can buy kits to do it also from people like Maplins. If your ally 1.7 badge is going spare could I buy it from you?moggy wrote:The other compounding problem is that the car is blackWhat did Porsche do with black cars, did they just simply have black cars and black badges?

Hi Hugo,
I think make 3 in the county now! I used to go to the Foxton meet, but not been for ages. I assume you mean the one at the Black Horse. I will see if I can find out when the next one is, I know they stopped for a while because the pub changed hands. Do you go along to Ashby Folville?
