Anyone with 914 books - need period race pics of engine

To enable me to race with the twin Webers in the Historic rallies I've got to prove that they used twin Webers in period during the 70's in 914's. I spoke to James Calvert (aka Stateside) who also runs Webers on his car which raced in the Historic circuit racing championship. He told me he proved they were period as he found a picture of an Italian car in a book which showed twin Webers. He unfortunatley can't locate the picture as it was some years back when he had to fill in his forms. Can anyone look thru their book collection and look for a picture of a 914 running twin Webers in the 70's (preferably in competition). I've already checked thru the following books:

How to Restore and Modify your Porsche 914 & 914/6
Porsche 914 & 914/6 - The definitive history of the road and competition cars
Caught by Camera - Porsche 914

I'd be very grateful to anyone who can help as I need all the performance enhancements I can get away with to keep up with the 911's and Escorts.

In Excellance was Expected they talk about twin- throat downdraft solexes being added to the new 2.0 914 engine for 1972 SCCA production competition. With increased compression etc they claim 131bhp & upto 156 bhp ( p600 original book)

Thanks Hot66 but I really need something specific to Webers rather than the Solex's as if I submit that info they'll turn around and tell me to put Solex's on instead... something I would rather avoid. But that's exactly the kind of info (preferably with picture's to back it up) I need.

I'll look tonight, but I'm sure the 1.8 euro engines had carbs -were these webers, solex or zenith?

this list here states that the 1.8 engine type AN 85 used 2 webers

check the Haynes manual out I'm sure it shows carbs being used, not sure which ones though.

I agree the 1800cc engines did have carbs on, however I have a 2l engine, which never came with carbs on as standard which is why I need to try to show them an aftermarket period picture (prefereably one in competition) that uses Webers on a 2litre motor. The MSA are usually sticklers for details, they'll pick up very quickly that the 2litres didn't have carbs on from the factory and then request proof that this was a period upgrade - which is where at the moment I'm stuck.

Have looked through all my books and mags - closest i've got to a non 6 engine on carbs is a rally cross 914 fitted with a 356 engine!

Will check my collection of car porn pictures on the PC later....

OK, looks like I'm drawing a blank on this, so, does anyone have any links to a good website (apart from pbase) that has lots of pics or period 914 racers?

Also, if it helps, Jim Calvert reckons the 914 which he saw the Weber carbs on a period 4 cylinder racer was an Italian car at the bottom of the page. Unfortunately he can't find the book it was in now, so I'm on my own.

It would be worth posting your request on the 914world.com forum if you haven't already done so - lots of racers on there.

It might also be worth contacting Ian McMath & Barrie Martin - 914-6 & 904GTS on DDK respectively.
