Nick answer me this.. I have never been a fan of these pumps only because I wounder how useful they really are but do tell me different. happy to learn )

I was always lead to understand that the mechanical pump will only pump what fuel is needed at what ever given requirment. So if running fast more fuel pumped to match the requirement the fuel balanced by the floats in the carbs cuts off the supply when not needed...blarrrrddyyy blarrr and all that..

So what does the facet do when there is a larger demand for fuel? because as far as i knew the pump just pumps at a set rate.. my concern has been what if it doesn't keep up or how does it know more fuel is needed? other than the floats being lower and alowing more fuel to be alowed in the float chamber..

I'm not being funny it's a genuine question?

no its a valid question if a canreplace with electric pump i may do.ive had troub le with too much pressure on my race aircooled motors but needed a pressure regulator i think a facet is about 3psi so about right.
Ill b honest i get the impression a new pump wouldnt be cheap anyway so in my budget minded ness i think an electric pump culkd be the way to go just blank off the old pump connections???

anyway incase someone has a spre you never know its all new to me :)

you can get a rebuild kit... I bought up a few pumps at swap meets in the US for like $10-$20 and I have rebuilt them with new kits and carry them as a spare in the cars

kit is like £15-20
