I need a pair and just checked out the prices on Roger Brays... crrrrikey

Anyone know where I might get them for less.... within a week too

pretty sure they get most of their parts like this from Eurocarparts and add on a few quid.... anything like this I've bought from them always seems to have a 'Euro's type' part number sticker anyway

I've had a look around... prices including vat (these for one only).

Rbrays a whopping £148
Euros £123
Berlyn £117
Clubautosport - listing them at £56 each + vat i guess, think I'll be giving them a call tomorrow

we should be MOT'd verrrrry soon

Hi Darren,

I think I got mine from Berlyn services a few months ago for the 914. They were certainly a lot cheaper than you have been quoted and had the same part number as a 911 if I recall right.....

I am finding this with the rear shocks I can't get hold of my mate.. anyway.. I was going to call Euro car parts and I forgot..

As a side line I have got prices from my trade place for shocks for the 356 Hydraulic £30 for the front each and 35 for the rear each that's for A B and C models..

now that's a good price.. just waiting to get the 911/12 for 68-74 rear shocks prices..

has anybody actually made a list of whats vw , whats porsche troughout a whole car ???

my porsche 964 has relays from a passat and bmw amongst other things , and my mark2 golf gti had parts from a beetle .
and my 912 has parts from a 356 , which are parts from a beetle .

and dont forget suppliers such as bosch , lucas , bilstein etc. have allways supplied other manufacturers ........ so imagine porsche ask bosch for "a relay with such and such a spec ."
bosche think "hmmm , that one we make for audi is designed to the same spec . easy job !!!"

maybe , with a little research you will find that mark1 golf gti ones are the exact same at a quarter of the price ?

come to think of it , the dreaded blue ovals are made in germany !!!
maybe there is some truth to the rumours of a 964 having f++d parts in em !!!

Thanks for all the suggestions, I must point out that SWB LOWER Ball joints are particular to 65-67 911/912's ONLY, definately not the same as any other car. I guess the reason they're quite expensive is that they're more of a A-Arm part than a normal balljoint (ala tie rod ends etc.)

try finding a car that has exactly the same A-Arms and struts as a 65-67 911 or 912, there isnt one

he is right these things were on the whole made by some one in mass numbers and sold to the likes of Porsche ... trouble is finding who and what they fitted is the big game and as time has gone one.. put an easy one to play.. just stick with what you can get that will fit for sure..

Never mind Darren at least it's only a small bit of work and the car on the whole is better than you thought

This time next week you will have forgoten about it and enjoying the drive..

very good, there is only one part number as in bold above. The lwb ones are all similar, the swb is a completely different design, take a look at the parts diagrams and you'll see.
