Some pictures from Essen

Post by vricardo »

Hi, here are some pictures I took at Essen this weekend.

Over at the Porsche stand was a streched 911, a prototype of the 911 based four-door salon, to remind us of how original is the Panamera... I must say, there is something of a DS about it!

Then, for sale, was a 550 Spyder replica with a 993 engine...

Image

... a Gulf livered 911 R, once owned by Steve McQueen and used as a camera car on the film "LeMans", that I've never heard of before...

Image

... in very good company...,

Image

And another stretched "limo"...

Image

Bright and bold colours everywere...

Image

...some older than other...

Image

... some "tupperware" as well...

Image

...for the very, very rich...

Image

... and for children.

Image

Also some music...

Image

...books and posters...

Image

and some people we never forget.

Image

And last but not least, who's nr1?

The stretched 911 as seen at PCGB Eynsham hall last summer . . .

Interesting (to me), that they've put Vredestein classic sprints on not XWX tyres on it.

Looks like a great show. That yellow with orange stripped 911R was for sale at Le Mans. They still must be looking to sell it.

No wonder!!! The prices asked at Essen for regular (not race) cars, not even close to having the period correct details, were mind blowing!!!

Do you think this classic cars boom is going to be the next dot-com-like business? First they go sky-high, then crash-and-burn...

Agreed - that stretched bus is awesome.

The stretched 911 on the other hand... that's just rancid.

If you need to ask...

I think it was driven-up a ramp of bank notes.

I went with my little pocket camera and filled the SD card with 911 megaphone pics on the first day LOL

Spent day two being an anorak on 914/6s etc & devoted a lot of time to Michael Witke's beautiful racer, the detail on it is stunning. The brown all-original 916 on the Porsche stand was really terrific.

The ally ramps for the 550 are under the car 8)
