Re: Pre-A strategic measurements?

You know, these things were built by hand and therefore any measurement could actually differ slightly from car to car. I have not verified this, but I would say that the centerline of the radio pod is the same as the centerline of the gauges. br, Aki Anyone able measure the position for the opening...

Re: Replica gauges for the 356

Pre-a gauges are different from later A ones, but to untrained eye A versions are close enough :d Picture of the pre a speedo for comparision is shown below. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UWs0YbY_EgM/UWbWyRQU-5I/AAAAAAAAVYU/4X14ukzKGMs/s1600/DSC08992.JPG Originally '53 did not have round fuel gauge, '54...

Re: Nice engine conversion!

Looks like Mark Jung's car to me. His Flickr account contains more pics of the car and there is build thread of it on some forum. It features 911 transmission, early 911 rear suspension and 4 wheel discs. One of my personal favourites what comes execution of the modifications. Wow 2.7 flat 6 in a 35...

Re: Not mine, but wish it was- Pre-A outlaw for sale

That very car is a reason get myself one in first place - I still have the Volksworld issue in shelf :) Jez's 356 was A, not pre A but nice and inspirational car anyway. I tried to add image of it but for some reason it did not succeed. Remember it well, Jez Hoyes pre A. Is it the same car Alex? Jez...

Thanks Roy for the kind words, I have done few projects before, but this is my first 356. Originally I planned to everything myself but I found person who is professional panel beater and he has done most of the bodywork and I'll do the rest myself. The design of the pre-a cars takes care that there...

Hi, I wanted to share my thoughts on this topic as someone who has done a massive amount of bodywork to pre-a lately. Here is my car years ago before any bodywork was done to it. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UmEUaDPekLE/Sp1RS0qGndI/AAAAAAAABOw/GrK7uBIoNho/s640/356_02.jpg I would say the starti...

The A nose piece Roger Bray stocks are genuine panels and I dint think there areany differences in it for a 54 Pre-A. I got response from them that the only difference is the location of the horn grilles, which can be changed obviously. Good things happen when least expected: I was able to locate a...

Pre-A nose panel

Hi all, I'm in process of restoring my '54 pre-a and about the missing piece from the metal work is the nose panel. My car has been involved in some accident in some point of time and nose panel has bent. Moreover, someone with lot of will but short of skills has been doing the repairs and the end r...

Pre-a details

Hi, restoration of my '53 proceeds in the bodyshop. I would need help with couple of details: 1) How should the sheet metal look like inside trunk, around the the upper shock tower bolt? I close up photo would be great! 2) How the seam between b-pillar lockpost and threshold plate was originally don...

Thank you for the warm welcomes. My project is in Finland, it has been imported here from Belgium. It has been in project for more than decade. Some photos from the bodyshop, looking fairly sad at the moment with all the body panels removed to get better access for repairs: http://www.elisanet.fi/ka...
