Alcantara

Post by tomgoodwin3 »

Afternoon all,

My mind has wandered onto my cars interior....

As I gave up on keeping my car 'original' a long time ago I was thinking it would look good all trimmed out in black alcantara (I hate 70's vinyl...the stuff they put in cars is pretty nasty too..;-)...)

Firstly, any thoughts?

Secondly, anybody got any idea how much the stuff costs and where I can get it from???.....just scoured google without much success....

Cheers!

Thanks Roger,

Good 'ol ebay to the rescue again!

The second one looks good, checked out his website too:

http://www.martrim.co.uk

Interestingly he says that alcantara goes for £70 p/m, where as his price list has it down for £40 p/m....think i'll send for a sample.

Cheers

Lovely stuff, highly recommended!! I had my old Golf trimmed in it, fantastically durable and really comfortable. The only downside was that after about 8 years in the car (which was never garaged) it faded a touch and looked really dark bottle green rather than black.

No idea where you get it, I used to work at Aston Martin and bought some through there.

I think there are a couple of automotive trimmers who hang out on here so they can probably help.

I second Gary - I didn't like the vinyl because it got sticky in the heat and cold in winter, so I retrimmed the cushions (seat and back) in a tasteful green alcantara in my 914/4.

I actually had enough left to do the centre panels in my 911 which also looks great and is very hard wearing and comfortable.

Did you get a nice shade of pink Alcantara for the 944 Paul?

MBS fabrics
£40 per metre, If you are doing the seats then you need to get alcantara with scrim foam on the back. Its a bit more robust.
If you have trouble give us a pm and I will order it for you.
