What is the latest thinking on road spec brake pads?

For the last 12 years or so I've had 2.4 911 drilled and vented discs and Carbone Loraine CL5 pads, A type callipers Front, M type callipers Rear.
Stock master cylinder.
When fresh 12 years ago, the car stopped well (after trying several 'performance' pads all of which were a disappointment) but still a bit weak in modern traffic.

I am now on a quest to further improve the braking based on the same callipers and a Porsche 3.2 servo for the autumn.

This leaves the pads.

The CL5's are noisy, squeak a lot on light applications, groan a lot when pushed, but they do stop the car.

That was all 12 years ago.

Are there other brands that have the same power without preferably the noise and brake dust?

I want a very good bite from cold.
I do not track the car just do nice event runs, but want to make it stop much better.
Maybe CL5's are still the best choice?

Any thoughts please?

I go with stock ATE pads. I’ve used them with 3.2 brakes on my 2.4 for years. Good bite and hot performance.
Recently put EBC greens on as I needed some pads in a hurry before the Spain trip.

I never had appreciable fade with ATE and definitely had it with the EBC green pads, admittedly when ‘pressing on’ for an extended period on mountain roads.

I think you have tried those and several others over the years and not got on with any of them..............easy option just fit the servo?

Textar were really poor imho and cheap, so really not worth it all.

This lot can be very subjective, bit like 'what is the best oil?'
All I'm after is comments from the likes of Gary as over the last 12 years things are sure to have changed...maybe?

I used to do a lot of track days in my SC and loved my Porterfield pads. Worked well for normal road driving, very quiet. Al.

Thanks, I understand the CL5's are now all but superseded by CL6's, but expensive and dusty...

Just replaced the rear brake discs and pads with Brembo on my 897.2 Boxster, good improvement and reasonable price.

Not an easy choice.
