Car registration wrong for year?

Post by leedurrant73 »

Hello,

I noticed my car reg is wrong for the year. Who ever registered it when it returned back to uk from Africa registered it as an F reg?

F is August 1967 to July 1968. G is August 1968 to July 1969.

My car was delivered dec 1968. So should be G reg. would I be able to re-register the car?

Any thoughts?
Thanks

You might find it was manufactured prior to July 1968 and DVLA have taken that, what does your COA say or any other documents?

Have a look at what your V5 says about date of manufacture and first registration in the UK?

.

If it was my car I'd be inclined to buy a cheap dateless registration & transfer that to it once it's finished & on the road (you'll need an MOT).

At least the car won't look wrongly registered & it will allow you to investigate the possibility of getting it re-registered as a 'G' suffix registration.

Car registration wrong for year?

Post by matteo68 »

Yes I had to for my donor T prior to disassembly.

Several details on the V5 were incorrect including date of manufacture (June ‘72) and date of first registration in Hawaii (Feb ‘73) but DVLA helpfully corrected these without quibble and issued me with registration TSX 911K…

Any car on which you wish to change the reg number will require an MOT first, regardless of whether it's registered as a classic/historic. Likewise any donor vehicle will need to be MOT'd, too.

Hello guys.

I spoke to DVLA this morning and said if I send my V5 together with my Porsche LOA showing when it was manufactured. They will change it to a G registration.

I need to change the colour on the log book so will get it sorted. No cost involved.

Thanks for comments

Yes I’m really please I just hope is a nice prefix number. Kind of wanted less numbers as I want to go with an adhesive front plate :)

Update on re registering my 69 car that DVLA registered as a 67 instead of a later 68.

Called today. After ten weeks it’s now being processed and they said they have what they need.

Should have the new registration next week.
Hopefully :)
