Any recomended early 911 books out there?

Post by baggy_aggy »

Right, so I've driven the car, had it assesed, approved and admired and tommorow I part with a shed load of savings for Conrads 1970 911 T targa. Looking on a few book sites the feed back on the Haynes manuals (which I've found good for the VW's) is very bad for the Porsches.
So has anyone got some manuals that they have used time and time again and swear by them and not at them??

Thanks in advance.

Welcome Lewis - you've picked an excellent car to buy !

In addition to DDK, these sites are worth visiting reularly:

Pelicanparts BBS:

Early 911S Registry:
http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/index.php

As for books, these are good value:

"101 Projects for your Porsche 911" by Wayne Dempsey
"How to rebuild & modify Porsche 911 engines" by Wayne Dempsey
"Porsche 911 Performance Handbook" by Bruce Anderson
"Porsche 911T 911E 911S Technical Specifications" (Factory pocket book)
"The 911 & 912 a restorer's guide to authenticity" by Brett Johnson

Thanks for the info, any idea where to find the
"Porsche 911T 911E 911S Technical Specifications"?

The wife was not best pleased that the insurance policy seems to be 'Over 30's', ironic thing is that she spent a year woking for BMW in Muchen driving around in M series individual cars, showing Brits how to drive them on the AutoBanhs... she is a better driver than me and I can't get her on the policy! Ah shame.

Serves you right for having a cute wife who's still in her 20s. 8)
