Underseal colour - beige-ish

Post by deano »

Has anyone established what colour code RAL number is closest to the light beige coloured underseal used under some of our cars?

Maybe RAL1015?

I need to get a tint colour for tintable Raptor - would be better if I didnt have to experiment, waste product, get it wrong, hard to match from RAL charts on a screen etc.

I know, much of it will be covered with body colour, but definitely not all e.g. under back seats

Thanks for looking!! :bounce:

I spent way longer than is healthy trying to find the right colour for exactly the same purpose as you. When I'm back from holiday I'll dig out what i ended up going with. I used some scrapings of the old coating to eye match it to colour swatches in the end. The only thing is I don't think raptor will absorb the years of road dirt like the original coating.

I ended up going for RAL 7044, light greyish beige. My little samples from the original coating weren't all that beige -

Can't remember which of these is 7044-

Couple of good reference pics here, I concluded a lot of the colour came from the wax coating. -

Heres a bad pic of my attempt pre wax coat. It doesn't feel right doing the overspray on a nice clean underside!
