After the loss of my 912 I've found myself looking at 914 on www. I think the money is going to be used elsewhere but if it I did get another car it would something that is solid and that can be enjoyed. Doesn't have to be perfect. I would think about improving the car over time and maybe upgrading the engine. Slight preference for carbs because I know them.
The timing didn't work but something like this

Go for it, check out some UK based cars though. The white one looks familiar, bet someone here knows it.

Neil
think i'd speak to Kevin Clarke to see if he knows of a good, solid usable car. Worth getting it properly checked out as a rotten one can be expensive....

Doesn't look as though the seller knows about hell holes! Has had original fuel injection replaced with twin carbs. Fair bit of rust in the rear boot floor panel, a common problem. Also has had a poor USA respray.
Hope you find a good one - speak to KEV on this site for advice.

Re: What do think of this 914?
What on earth is that tradeclassics site going on about? Are we supposed to believe that Glyn has such an understanding of classic cars that his judgment is sufficient to buy the car unseen?
Only it reads to me more like he’s not got the faintest clue about anything.
Though I do like the sound of a gentle track day. Bit of easy listening on the stereo, change up at 2500rpm so you don’t ruin the ambience, maybe stop at Woodcote for a picnic.
