Always take your gearbox builder's advice.....

...in to account.

Though not everybody will agree. :)

Don't do it! Far to slippery, you will end up thinking you have been mugged on the refresh because the oil will undo all your builder's good work.

I recommend Motul (I think 75/90 or I might be dreaming) on Chris at Fennlanes advice and have never looked back

Does the box have a plated lsd?
I found Sweepco made no difference over simple Shell gearbox oil recommended by Mike Bainbridge.

Castrol B373 would be my weapon of choice (LSD or no LSD)
Royal Enfield .. still in India
GL 1800 Tour DCT, for pleasure / Fantic 240 Professional - play
Rally 911 (1966) build parked for a while
Rally 928 (work started again - inc serious weight loss programe !)

No lsd. I thought this would be a straight walk in the park question but l guess not. Similar to asking what engine oil to use. Everyone has their choice ;-).

I use Castrol in whatever grade the manual recommends (can’t remember!). I used to run Swepco 201 and it’s so much sweeter shifting on the Castrol.

Indeed, how long is a piece of string?

I'm with Gary, the spec is in the Haynes manual.
Some lsd's need a different oil, depends on their design.

Have used that spec in my 915 road car for 28 years bar one horrid year with pink Swepco.
My hill climb box with lsd uses the same oil too, well over 70K miles.

True, but whichever brand you choose, there are no recommendations for Swepco so far....

I think the engine oil question is different, you don't feel the difference, but build a view over time. Swepco immediately made each change graunche (is that a word?) and took several oil changes to get rid of and restore the shift back to normal.

I think I have a half empty Swepco container in the garage which you can feel the difference against standard gear oil which you are very welcome to if it helps. You really can feel the difference in your finger tips. You can then decide for yourself.

I used Swepco and didn’t notice an improvement over what was in before. Swapped it out for 75/90 Motul which is described as good for hard shifting gearboxes and I feel it is better. https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/motul-g ... lsrc=aw.ds

I recently changed the oil in my discovery and found slot of crap on the magnetic. The changes were better afterwards. I sometimes wonder if more expensive oil can prevent us changing the oil more frequently?
