914 Washer Switch conversion

There's plenty of ways to delete the, not so great, pressurised washer system. I was going to cobble up something myself but after a bit of searching around I decided to go with this method below.

I've spoken with the chap who makes them and shipping to the UK is $15 so I thought I'd ask around before I placed an order to see if anyone else was interested and I'll do a group order and split the fees. I'll then post them off to you once they arrive.

Well this has proved slightly more popular than I anticipated

Sorry and all that, don’t mean to tread on anyone’s toes, but is this not a bit like a re-invention of the wheel? It’s over 25 years since I restored a couple of 914s, but column switches seem to either have non-functioning contacts contained, or they don’t: as luck would have it I had one of each (USA vs Euro car?), so on one I just ran an extra wire to a spare slot on the multi-pin plug, on the other I just made up some contacts from some scrap brass first, then ran the extra wire. 25 yrs later the home-made one is still working (I lost track of the other). In fact what caused the most confusion is the the wiring colours change at the multi-pin plug, and no longer reflect what’s shown in the manual.

There are no electrical connectors in this set up........

It works like the old VW system whereby pulling the stalk backwards, activates a small valve holding back the air pressurised water in the water bottle. The valve either breaks off, gets stuck, and if you are really lucky and it fails, it pisses water all inside the stalk and all over your legs and feet.............until the air pressure dissipates.

The stalk DOES NOT operate any electrical circuit, and this is what this switch is designed to do, operating an electrical contact for an electrical washer system, instead of the valve that was originally in the system.
