356 crank/cam surfaces

Post by hashman »

I'm looking at my spare crankcase and the camshaft surfaces don't look good.
The picture is the worst of all my crankcase camshaft surfaces.
I know it's bad and should be sorted but does any one know if it is usuable at all or is there any one who has had their cases machined to use VW camshaft bearings.
Any advice would be grately appreciated.

Does look bad but i've saved a case like that before by having it rebored and new cam bearings inserted (sourced from Vic Skirmants i think...) not VW though they should work. Why not ask around on thesamba 356/911 forum. Lots of blokes on there mix and match their 356/VW engine bits
