Tartan fabric.

Post by coomo »

Guys,am currently refurbishing a 924 turbo. The original Brown pasha is worn, and besides im looking to change to a nice tartan. If anyone has any links to suppliers,
Id be very grateful.Plenty of cheap Ebay fabric out there, but not sure how suitable it is for cars.

I would second Stuart's recommendation, Scotland Shop were excellent in providing samples, advice etc. The only reason I didn't use them was because they couldn't source the tartan I required which I ultimately got from werk924

Think your saturation levels are skewy Mike... ;-)

Inflex interiors did my seats. Gerry, the owner knows Porsche seats, he does stuff for Autofarm IIRC.

Very reasonable and great workmanship.

I researched this long and hard for my 914 and tried to get an exact match to the original 'Orange Plaid'. The only source was in the US and I decided it would be too expensive by the time all duties and shipping were paid. I therefore looked at the suppliers in Scotland and found House of Tartan who would make a matched batch and supplied me a sample free, unlike Scotland Shop who I think charged me £5 for an A4 sample! Again I decided against having a batch made, as the minimum quantity was too much .

In the end I purchased from them a standard Buchanan tartan off the shelf, and I'm having this laminated with foam backing, now ready to get sewn up. However whilst researching all this I found, through a business contact, a guy in Germany who has a huge range of original stock materials for most German marques. I've got printed catalogues and some samples, he's got various Porsche materials including Pascha, pinstripes, Madras, berbers, tartans etc. It's in German but take a look at http://www.doepper-profile.de/artikelau ... Autostoffe. I'm planning to order some basket-weave leathercloth for the dash face and some carpet on the roll, for my 914 project.
