Fixing location for tipping jig

Hey all,

Firstly, a belated HNY to all!

Although progress on my '73T restoration is painfully slow we are at least at the point where we need to get it off it's suspension. I had been thinking of just making up a simple rolling platform but these guys are such good value I may just get one of their tipping jigs.

I have had a quick chat and, although the price includes car specific brackets, it looks like they have only done an IB car before. So, in terms of mounting points, where should I tell them the car would mount? I think it's easier at the front where presumably the reinforced bumper mounts either side of the front slam/lock panel would do but I am much less sure what would be load bearing at the rear end.

Thoughts?

Sorry not great pics but here are my mounting brackets I made for the same Jig. front to the bumper mounts and rears to the back engine mounts.

We made up our own brackets which bolted to the front suspension fixing points, I'll send you a couple of photos.

Those jigs look great value, iirc I paid in the region of £500 for mine although it works well and has wheels.

Yes, these do look great value but adding their castor kit brings the whole cost to just under £500. Their castor kit does have 8 wheels though and looks very stable.

Interested in a comparison with the one you bought Darren since yours looks chunkier.

To answer your specific first question - I went for engine mounting points at the rear. (used bumper mounts at front triangulated onto front panel as well - using the "big holes" that are already in that panel (packed out to give good fit) )

As you are close - you are welcome to have a look (me - Carrickfergus).

My mounts / jigs are all home made - typically over engineered !

Wheels a "must" , in my opinion.

I might just take you up on that offer. I had done a design for a home made one but these are so cheap that I questioned whether it was worth the hassle!
