Forest Find - 1955 VW Panel Van

Post by Mitch »

This may have been shared already and I’ve missed it but I came across this great story about a "Forest Find" 1955 VW Panel van in France.

I don’t know more than I’ve read so taking it at face value but it was all started by a chance meeting and quickly followed by a journey of discovery, resurrection and deliverance.

It’s really in the maverick spirit of DDK; one guy on a mission helped by a bunch of mates out to have fun doing something cool… It's a good read and I won’t spoil the whole story but the short film is worth 13m 37s of anybody’s time. Oh and wait for the few out-takes at the end too!

Yes, a lovely film and story.

I hope that in the fullness of time the van will be restored.

It reminded me of the pocket money which I earned on Saturday mornings driving a 1958 VW Panel Van (it would have been little different from the van in the film), which belonged to the proprietor of a local general dealer/grocery store, in Bulawayo. The van was less than a year old at the time and I thoroughly enjoyed driving it - and as I was still in school, the money came in handy too! :)

Very cool, thanks for posting that. Beautifully shot. And lovely sound track too. Cool what people can do nowadays without the need for massive production budgets.
