Engine rebuild turning over

Post by glovebox »

Gents, just got my engine back from being rebuilt. But won't be fitting it for a few months now! 2.2 T engine. Should I turn it over by hand every so often ?? It a complete engine with out ancillaries fitted ! So it has no oil .

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards Mark.

I would put oil in. Turn over by hand. Then when you go for a key turn over, discount the HT lead from the coil, just so the oil gets around before you actually try a start up.

If it is a 2.2T engine, it has a dry sump system, so you would need to put oil in via the dry sump feed. However, the builder will have built it with assembly lube, which will remain round the bearings, so putting oil in at this stage is probably not important.
Cheers

Definitely leave well alone. It's all lubed up and ready to go. That lube won't go away. That's assuming it's stored in a sensible place and not out in the middle of the lawn!
