Oil tube replacement

Post by rft218 »

Hi All,

Just wanted to get a view on oil tube replacement.

Some years ago I had my oil tubes on my 993 turbo replaced with the porsche replacement tubes like these:

http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod2782/ ... 010704001/
They have worked very well and have not had any issues and it fixed the leak I had which was even better!!!

I have now got my 3.2 engine out and need to do the same thing and saw these on the design911 website:

http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod3945/ ... 964---993/

...they seemed like a good idea - aluminium so they wont rust out and machined rather than then formed which should make them more accurate, but I read on the IB forum when I was looking for some fitting tips and someone put some negative comments about them, saying the o rings were smaller - it doesnt really make sense to me but I wondered if anyone has any real life experience of them and views as to if they are good or bad?

Cheers

Roger

I've used both types without any problems - however, the plated steel ones look more original, do the job just as well & are cheaper ...

I too have used the simple steel ones with the circlip gripper on my 2.2T a long time ago, never leaked.

I've got a set of two piece alloy tubes anodised gold in my pile of left over bits, you'd need to buy some circlips and o rings from somewhere like ashley power or ashley transmissions, Yours sale or return as I can't be arsed to photograph etc £50 quid ?

Thanks all, I will go with the CNC ones I bought. Thanks Hassad - I have already bought them which is a shame!
