1968 2.0L Porsche 901/07 engine - rare garage find
HI - long story short.
I've been searching for the original engine for my '66 911 and thought that I'd tracked it down only to find out that it's not - that's the way it goes - but this engine was fitted in my '66 car back in the 60's or 70's so I can only assume that the original '66 engine was removed at some stage and this '68 engine fitted. The story continues that the owner of my '66 car sold the engine to a friend (the guy I bought the engine from) with gentleman's agreement to sell him the car at a later date, this never happened as the two guys argued about the car with one wanting to buy the engine back and the other wanting to buy the car, needless to say this went on for decades until the owner of the car sold it to another guy, who I later bought the car from. I knew about this engine for over a year and had prayed that it was the '66 engine but sadly not. The owner of the engine then agreed to sell to me, and while I've no real use for it I've decided to sell. I do have a 65 engine (901514) that I will fit to the car, but I'm still searching for 903695 if anyone has this???
This 901/07 engine, originally fitted to a Sportomatic car but in essence the same as a 901/06 engine. This engine has sat in the previous owners garage for the last 34 years! Engine turns over freely and the carb linages also operate freely. Needless to say the engine is sold as seen and no warranty given. Engine number 3180305 and I can confirm that is a magnesium case engine, build number 14683. type 901/07.
What makes this engine rare is that it's complete - everything you see in the photographs comes with it. That includes the carbs Weber 40IDT's, manifolds, dizzy, oil cooler, tin ware, engine shroud, alternator and fan assembly. Being shown as found - I'm going to consider cleaning it up over the weekend.
The engine is located with me in Belfast Northern Ireland but I will ship worldwide at additional cost.
Please email or PM me if you want further pics or info.
Selling for £8000 Sterling.

HI Mito - no rust whatsoever, just grubby - I wanted to show it as found, I'm not hiding anything. I will clean over the weekend and you'll see its pretty clean for not having been touched in 34 years. Will it run - possibly but in reality any buyer will strip, at minimum check and rebuild. But it is complete which in itself fairly rare. I can do a compression check if required.
