Transporting parts

Post by JohnS »

Hi, I need to ship a ducktail from London to Durham. Size 100cm x 70cm x 30cm / 5 kg approx. Not heavy - just awkward and fairly fragile.
I'm sure that things like this have been shipped many times but any useful thoughts much appreciated.
Thanks john

Plenty of bubble and extra layers of corrugated board around the corners and don't use Yodel, they managed to bend every corner of a steel engine lid I dispatched last year.

To counteract that, I've sent hundreds of parcels via Yodel & never had a problem ...

I use cans of expanded foam around the part when i send aluminium or GRP parts. Extra insurance.

I sent 30 parcels in one hit with MyHermes, lost 3, 2 broken. 16% failure is a disaster. Avoid.

It just goes to show that it's pot luck as I've never had any issue with MyHermes.

Having used virtually every courier, I now only use UPS.

I must have been lucky so far as I've sent hundreds of parcels with Hermes too & never had any problems with them either ...

I'm of the opinion that it's very much luck of the draw and down to driver / handler mood at the time.

My last collection didn't even turn up!
