Original size is 165 HR 15, and I've been told the nearest modern equivalent is 165/80R15

Dougal, it may help if you explain the purpose of your questions, which I have just worked out myself.

Something I was thinking about too. The 165/60 x 15 is an even more attractive price and I just wonder whether it would enhance handling without detracting from the look. Purely for a legally driven road car.[*]
What are folks opinions?

I know 912 fitted 165R15 and, yes these days since low profile tyres have been invented they tend to specify that it is a 165/80R15.

Fitting 165/60R15 would make your car "lower than a snakes ass"

I want to know what brand of tyres they fitted. I have been recomending the Michelin XAS, because it is a great tyre. However i wondered if they may have originally fitted the 165HR15 Cinturato CA67 that Pirelli have just re made.

i know that 911 fitted the 185/70VR15 CN36 that Pirelli have re made so i wondered what the 912 fitted.

I have a half made Porsche fitment guide http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page/porsche-tyres if anyone knows of any mistakes please let me know.

My post i suppose you could say was a commercial post, because i want you chaps to know about the tyres that i am having made for your cars. However i am also using your forum to gain knowlege about Porsche, to make my web site better, and hopefully offer a better service (which i think is allowed).

i'm sorry if my actions cause any upset. I hope not.

here is a short film of my (sort of) "Porsche". I am testing snow studs in it before going Ice racing. (there is a tenuous Porsche link to this car)

And of course you can take a banner and advertise tyre availability to your hearts content in the trade classifieds too
