Took the SC to the Landrover 4x4 spares day at the Newbury Showground this morning. Maybe not the best 4x4xfar, but handled the mud & ruts in great style, nothing got broken off, so all in all, a good morning.
'79 Targa - restoration now mainly complete & being driven

On a similar note, I found myself at a local underground meet/event. There was a host of Gambler 500 "builds".....Not to everyones taste, but gotta love some folks creativity and zero f@#ks given attitude...Plus, more and more Cybertrucks being spotted...

And as always, thankfully there is always someone else on hand who can take a way better photo of your car than you can :)

I took my distributor apart just to see how difficult it would be to lock it and use a cdi+ advance curve.

This is not the one on the car but the one I hoped to use before I found that I could not get the insulated connector block for it.
viewtopic.php?t=72234

Now I have oiled and manipulated the advance mechanism on the one in the car I have fixed the ‘bucking’ that I was getting at about 2200rpm caused by it being far too advanced at that point but the total advance is more than I am comfortable with.

Went to a low-key Early Register run to the PCGB Club House and met up with fellow DDK'r John and about 12 other early 911's.
Almost as many Targa's as coups!

Very dull when taking pics but otherwise a sunny dryish day.
Good to get the car out and a long run, but my early 911 is not the best 'traffic' car around...

Seem to have a real 'rumble' from the rear of the car so time to look at wheel bearings or even drive shafts I think.
This has been happening for the last 5 years, about when I changed the CV's which were not the best of fits, and certainly not GKN quality.

Fitted two new batteries to my S as they were last replaced in Jan 2018 by the previous (2nd) owner - internal resistance of both was higher than optimum (should be 5 milliohms or less apparently). First job I’ve done myself!ImageImage
