Tour de France 2014 - York 5/6 July

The Tour de France is coming to Yorkshire! If you are into your bikes get the 5 & 6 July 2014 into your diaries.

Tour de France: Yorkshire to host start of 2014 race

I took at stage of this years Tour in on the way to Classic Le Mans and it was one of the best days of my life :drunken:

be interesting to see if it's the original proposed route .. which was around Masham , Leyburn etc

The difficult choice will be whether to see the riders out on the road or soak up the atmosphere at the stage start/finish.
If there's a big climb involved then that's the place to be as you can see individual riders.
Stage finish is good though, with lots of razzamatazz - I caught a stage finish in St Malo a good few years ago (30?) and the atmosphere was electric

As us locals all know the back roads , we should in theory be able to do both ;)

Decision for me will be wether to take the Landy & park it on one of the climbs, along with chairs & a camping stove etc .then trundle along to the finish .. or wether to cycle out and watch them go past

DDK camping in the upper field James? I hear the lower field floods. ;)

We could all ride out to the route from there. :)
