White 911 on a64 near york

Post by hot66 »

Caught a glimpse out the corner of my eye , couldn't get much detail though .... All I could pick up on was the following;

1972 2.4 e
Rhd white
Appeared to have been turned into an rs rep with green graphics and wheels
Could just make out that the car had a full 2.7rs spec motor on mfi and twin outlet exhaust.
I think I could see 2 replica lightweight rs seats
7" & 8" wheels.

Does it belong to a ddk'er ?

That's a lot of detail for quick glimpse! You must know the car.....
I was on the A64 this morning in the Rep.
Broke down shortly after on the ring road, heading for the A19 and Northallerton - fuel pump decided that it had had enough. Recovered within 45 minutes, thanks to Hagerty's breakdown cover. I reckon the Spa trip had worn the pump out
Green tint rare? I didn't know that.

That's bad luck. Glad it didn't go on my watch!!
Anyway if you want to send your knackered pump over to me I could have a look to see if it would repair. Never had one apart but they can't be that complicated.
Kind regards.

*fuel* pump or *injection* pump?

If fuel pump, check the receipts in the history file as, from memory, I thought that was a new one fitted by Bob Watson when he did the engine?!?

If injection pump then that's amazing as it was on my RS while mine was rebuilt - and it was perfect?!? Was tested before being refitted to the engine after the rebuild

Don't recall any mention of new fuel pump in the receipts Philip, but I will check again...Pretty sure it's the fuel pump as the symptoms were that of running out of petrol...... I put 75 litres in just 5 miles earlier!
Did you know it had a 'big' tank? I didn't!

 Not fun - sorry you had problems. Do have a look at Bob's receipts.
