911 R-inspired

Post by Mick Cliff »

My ex-Andy Boyle 911 R-inspired car is finally on its' way 8)
A few early photographs below, courtesy of Mark Darby at RS911 in Wales.
Car was bought 'blind' from Andy via DDK way back in August. I've only ever bought 2 cars blind - and both have been from Andy - he's such a trustworthy source  !
A search for an engine identified a 3.0 hi-comp motor, bought off DDK-er Brembo. Relatively fresh rebuild and maybe 220-230bhp on SSI's?
So, I ended up with an engine-less car in mid-Wales, bought off a Londoner, and an engine in Kendal, Cumbria, bought off a Scotsman, with me in North Yorkshire. I like a challenge!
Just about all the pieces are now with RS911, ready to be nailed together.

Almost ready for painting - except I've changed my mind (again  ) and it will be Ivory White rather then Silver.

The motor - needs a bit of a clean up.
Plan is to add ITG filters.
I already have a set of SSI's (courtesy of Mr Perkles on Impact Bumpers and DDK)

RS911 will be bringing the car to a 'ready to go. MOT'd' standard before delivery, expected mid/late January next.
There will be a 'few' bits to sort before the MOT - door 'glass' and lifting straps; C12 brakes (possibly); battery; clutch; fuelling and no doubt a zillion other things will all help fill the time during unemployment and recuperation.

very cool Mick 8) Still have fond memories of following Andy in this car through northern France on our way home from Classic Lemans in 2006 ...... I think Andy was running open headers at the time ? Either way it sounded & looked wonderful . CAn't wait to see it in it's new livery 8)

Hi Mick
It looks great - have you any pictures of ivory white? The original colour of mine is 132 (ivory) but I am undecided about it at the moment although I could just wait for yours to appear and I am sure it will look fabulous.
Just a thought - why the respray?

Thanks
Ivory White? Don't know the code, but it's the same as Viv Surby's car, also painted by RS911 (that doesn't help, does it?!).
Respray? Car was with RS911 for a paint 'refresh' whenI bought it. The extent of the 'refresh' was more than I (and Andy?) anticipated and provided the ideal opportunity to change the colour as the glass was out anyway  .Took me a while to decide, due to redundancy, but a contribution from the tax office helped (partial refund of income tax paid  ).

As in the post above - 'fraid I don't know the code nor the terminology
Being slightly colour blind helps me in these decisions!
The Northern guys (and others!) know I'm not a stickler for originality (the Sepia car is a different story - that's so original that it scares me  )

Looks good, hopefully Mark isn't going to paint around the door handles, lights and wiper spindles! 8)

Thanks Mike.
I'd guess it will be Light Ivory 131. But either will suit me!
