I have four 917-style wooden shift knobs that a friend made as a little project. They're approx 43mm across, same as the factory knob, and come unvarnished / un-oiled. They are hewn from a lovely, pure block of wood billet by a CNC machine, so they are perfectly round. They're gorgeous

well Jamie has had this knob fetish about polishing it since classic Le Mans he has even taken Photo's of a polished knob or two. Now 4 of us get to join in with Jamie and polish our knobs all for £35 bargain

Out of interest, is it possible to get the stock gear knob off without knackering it? I'm pretty sure they're NLA, so it could be a one way process.

I don't think there is - I read the factory ones are clouted onto the shaft with a mallet and held in place with a crimp. You can't get it off unless it has worked itself loose over time.

Mine is on a factory short-shift kit, which includes a new shifter.

By the way - just weighed one and they are 24g
