SVA-Done It's Job?

Post by Old-Bugga »

I'd say it's pretty obvious that, judging by the lack of posts on this forum from people building speedsters, that the SVA has had the desired effect i.e. kill of home builds, and keep these vehicles for the rich and technicially talentless who can afford to buy them ready made.

I think the truth of the matter is that the majority of people who build repro Speedsters and the like are not Porsche enthusiasts, per se, and are probably not so likely to visit forums such as this. I don't think SVA has had that much of an effect…

If you checked back on this section a year or two ago, it used to be buzzing with people building speedy replicas. Loads of us, all swapping tips/tricks/experiences. Quite a nice little community.
Now.........watch the tumbleweed go by!

Maybe it's to do with Peter Bailey selling up and the previous owners which ran the company into the ground... Now Tygan have taken over lets see if things start to pick up. Talking to Tygan at the NEC and they are going to start drying up the self-build kits to concentrate on turnkey but not sure when, so best be quick and get your orders in..

The dvl thought police want to make you jump through hoops that didn't exist a few years ago. They are clearly after home builds. It must have been seen as coming by Peter hence he sold Chesil. I have worked through resizing my floor pan but I can see the hoops are higher and harder now. I would love to hear from any one who has done a build recently.
In a year or two I bet they won't let you do them unless pro built.
