DDK Mountain bike ride - 20th October

Post by hot66 »

Here's a slightly different DDK event ;)

As it seems quite a few of us are into Mountain Biking thought I'd organise a 'fun' ride at the end of October. I've discussed this with some ddk's already & they're up for it :)

The plan is to have a ride one Sat or Sunday in the Yorkshire Dales. Route will be suitable for those of us that are not that fit ( this includes myself
 )

So don't worry if you are more of a beer drinking biker ( like me) as it will be a fun day, but with some good old technical stuff thrown in too ( although I have not yet chosen the route ). Of course super fit riders can join us, its just you'll need to wait at the top of teh hills

Date is :

Saturday 20th October

So far we have :

Myself
Mike Bainbridge
John M

Anyone want to join us ?

If this goes well we'll probabally make it a more regular event. I'm really wanting to get across to Dalby Forest again as I havn't cycled there since the new trails were built etc

Cracking idea. I have often thought we should do this.
Count me in :) subject to date of course.... I can't generally do Saturday though.

Would love to join you, but Yorkshire is a bit far for me without turning it into a weekend away. How about a second ride somewhere in the Midlands eg Cannock Chase?

Helen, you & larry are more than welcome to join us for the beer at the end of the ride, just don't expect us to be looking at our best ;)

Brendan, road bikes are for pussies ;) , but if you insist on that side of things there are some superb road routes.

If we actually make it round this ride in one piece it could be fun to have a get together in teh midlands. I've been mountain biking for almost 20 years and have never cycled south of Yorkshire  We're spoilt up here with the Dales on one side, Yorkshire Moors on the other , only 40 mins to the Lakes & then Northumberland & Scotland only up the road too 8)

I was just waiting to see the long range forecast before committing to a date ..... unless people are happy to take a chance ;)

Mike was quite keen for a Dales based ride, so I have a nice route up over the tops near Reeth & Gunnerside.

You interested Ian?

Really depends when it is James and what else we have on at that time...

Wouldn't mind coming along and I have reason to be in the North fairly soon too ;) Just so long as you wouldn't mind captain unfit joining you.
