brake question for 911T E 's 1969

see this picture it is a kit for the 911t e and 912 for 69.. I am thinking about buying it but.. it got me thinking only cos I saw mate last night in his 993 and he has just had new rear discs and they were £50 each!!

so discs are cheap I know that.. but what model Porsche had vented calipers is it the later cars? eg 1975+ as it seams as long as you swap the discs and the calipers over they match up ok

any one think they know what calipers are used?

are they a VW item may be because of the size of the pads.. I don't know what the size of the pads are on a later 911

Hello there.

I do not see much demand for any facy brakes TBH.

911's have always had the best brakes in their class.
It is simple to fit the stock 911 rear setup to your LWB 912..

And cheap..you need the calipers and pads, and vented discs.

it's what I thought. but what year of calipers do i need. I have a pair of SC calipers for the front and they look much bigger than in the photo?

I am going to do this ,it's just a matter of finding which bits...

My 72 car has rear vented disk's as STD not sure how early they started but definatly before 72. As for the fronts the S had the larger calipers in the early 70's these require a 3.5 inch bolt spacing front strut. T and E had the M fronts which were 3" spacing and took a smaller pad but on the same disk. IIRC all cars from 74 on had the 3.5" A calipers same as the SC upto the 3.2 which had a spacer fitted to the caliper to allow a thicker disk. Upto the 3.2 all 911's had the same front disks regardless of the caliper excluding the turbo obviously.

Hi,

Sorry I do not have more time to be able to say more but., from 69 on, upgrading brakes is pretty straight forward as David says - but also don’t forget there are lots of LWB 911 Ts that have solid brakes, so it is not a simple “911” upgrade, but more of a upgrading to vented discs and then better braking on those vented discs.

The biggest issue is with the SWB cars, but that aside, the rear of a LWB 911 can go up to 3.2 callipers and discs (basically wider discs and larger pistons). If your front suspension legs have 3 inch ears you are limited to what you can fit, but if you upgrade to or have 3.5 brake ears you can fit the 3.2 callipers. I have 3.2 brakes on my 71 car and they are more then enough - but you could even go as far as 993 rears on the front - yes they will fit in a 15 inch wheel. But, if going this far I am sure you would also be doing other upgrades such as suspension and motor!

so i am on the look out for early calipers..

Bob at EBC tecnical has been very helpful and now see's this as a project of his own and I have to come back to him with some data and he is going to look into it more...

any more info on these vented discs and calipers yes please!!

A friend of mine has some rear calipers for sale from a 72 E for use with vented disks, pm me if your interested. They will need a rebuild new seals etc

Ok I have the brakes now and the vented discs

will try looking out advice on pelican or any old posts here but the car is a Long wheel base 69 car and from what I understand it's an easy swap on the rear and should be on the front..

any advice would be great pic's to follow of the parts i have.. wide body calipers..
