Alan

Have you done a compression test on the engine recently? Also, what kind of mpg were you getting before it was removed?

My engine recently went bang (you may have seen the thread) and I am thinking of type 4 VW power, because I couldn't see any 912 engines around. Could you PM me some more details, service records, what the £8k top end work involved, etc.

Cheers

Hi Dave,

I have just bought the car so I have not driven it. All I have done is put some clean fuel in it and it fired straight up. Bar that I know very little about this motor, so it sold simply as a running motor. I will be fitting something else hence I have no use for this motor. The car came with a large history file which documents its milage at 79,000 and has a receipt for engine head work approx 8,000 miles ago, but this was in 1992 (ish). The car has been stored since. There are also a few printed pics of the motor before it was put back in the car, these pics are useful as there are items which, such as the new exhuast which can be seen.

I hope this helps
