Pretty pretty!

Nice to see another RHD - I think we are in the minority.

The car looks great, I really like the wheel arch trims on a black car.

HMY3K is looking good.

We have previously discused on the smartgroups discussion forum
the link between the two cars.

I have recently traced the family that owned HMY7K from 1974 to 1992
and I am hoping to get some early pictures.

I am pleased to see that there are some more cars from the north.

`Of course Alan it's entirely your fault I like Signal Orange.
The black paint was exceptional considering it's 16 years old , but sadly my Lancashire garage has caused it to take up water into tiny squishey bubbles about 5mm across , unselfishly this has happened on almost every panel. I've thought about sitting with a hairdryer and trying to evaporate off the water ! you never know ! I don't think it's rot at all , just water soaking into the paint in a humid environment. She'll still be going back to bare metal just in case though.

The car is going in a better garage soon with middle of the night heating and dehumidifyer. It's been in a forced ventilation hamiltonclassic frame-tent/bag for the last couple of months with moisture traps and an insulated garage roof , sadly my efforts appear to have been in vain or too late and it may well have been better living outside my house in the open. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

It's annoying when you are a committed careful owner and you've succeeded in damaging a perfectly good paintjob by trying to do the right things !

Looking forward to seeing hmy7k in the flesh this year ? I'm definitely going to be at Oulton Park Gold Cup. Other events depend on the paint job. Now Yellow and Orange would look pretty cool parked up on the Porsche stand ?!

About that colour change - I love the way it looks in black and it may be easier and cheaper to keep her black depending on the complexity of painting inside boot etc ? However when I set out to find my dream pre 73 porsche I had a mad early seventies colour in my head.

HMY3K was Tangerine. Does anybody know if this is exactly the same as Blood Orange ? UK terminology as opposed to German ? I've seen huge variations in shades of blood orange and I don't know if this is due to the weather / photography or mistaken description of the colours !

I'll post a few examples to show what I mean later , but Gotta go for now

I love the 70's colours too, so returning the car to its original colour would be my choice :)

Heh heh , you've seen the same pictures I have ! Iwas going to use two of those myself. Compare those with "blood orange" S , RS & T/R at autofarm :

Image

Image

Image

These look almost red , in fact redder than this car below in "Signal Red"

Image

Sometimes tangerine can look very orange :

Image

This is how I imagine HMY3K probably looked :

Image

I found this scan of Glasurit 018 on the Web although I dare say it's as subject to all kinds of factors compared to reality.

Image

The truth is out there ! How do think I could see the true shades ? Would a paint shop have access to samples or something?

Cheers all , John M

Oh and I forgot to say

I'm just off to the right of the M61 where it meets the M6 & M65 , North of Chorley , East of Preston , West of Blackburn , Right in the middle of nowhere. Withnell Fold to be exact.

I also forgot to say , there was a photograph on the web somewhere of a 911 restored by Gantspeed. It's on an indoor stand at some show or other . it's in Signal Orange and looked STUNNING. Sadly I can't remember where I saw it. Anyone know the car I mean ?
