O.K. Folks: I am pleased to say that the first pair of days have been decided upon.
It is the weekend of Saturday 10th March and Sunday 11th March.
Maximum number for each day is six. Fully paid up DDK membership required (£10 for those thinking of joining). For security, exact location will be P.M.ed directly to guests, but look up Heathfield, East Sussex and you'll be warm

There are a number of B&B's locally for those travelling from afar. 9.30 for a prompt 10.00 start.
The location would be politely described as semi-rural, so best if you can bring packed lunch (as there's nowhere local to pop out to), but refreshments will be provided.
Just to re-cap on the intended format: Generally we'll start each section with a discussion of the principles of what we are about to do (or attempt ), with a little theory where appropriate. We'll then have a demonstration, and hopefully everyone will be able to have a try of each process, or at least watch closely and discuss what's happening.
I'm in the process of producing some sort of guide to take away that will recap on what's been covered, in the hope that a future reference for guests might be useful.
Each day will be broadly divided into two halves:
Welding:
Welding safety.
Introduction to welding equipment: MIG, TIG and Spot
Panel joint design.
Introduction to the MIG welder, with hints for improving the quality of your welding.
Plug welding with the MIG welder.
Opportunity to try each type of welding process.
Panels:
Introduction to basic tools required (no expensive tools needed!).
Assesment of repair.
Measurement, pattern making and marking out.
Cutting out of repair section blanks.
Creating angled flanges, included concaved and convexed curves with simple handtools.
Introduction to forming compound curved repairs with handtools only.
Brief demonstration of English Wheel.
Opportunity to try each of the above.
As per the original post, guests will be required to bring the following safety equipment:
Steel toe capped boots, or at least sturdy shoes.
Full length sturdy clothing (cotton overalls ideal) to protect from sparks and U.V. light from welding.
Ear defenders.
Goggles.
Ideally, if you've got some leather gloves (or better still, welding guantlets) so much the better.
I think that's it for now: please can those that wish to attend on one of the two days above, post their interest. Obviously those that have expressed an interest in this thread already take priority: just either mark on the thread or P.M. to let me know which day you'd like. If you don't, then there will be a second pair of days (at least) in the Autumn, probably sometime in October.
Just put a reminder that this is for our Annual Charity (Macmillan), and the minimum donation is £30: feel free (but not pressured) to donate more. Payment by cheque on the day please, gift-aid forms will be available on the day, cheques to Macmillan. I'll keep a running tally of the amount raised after each weekend, posted here. Just to be clear every penny donated will go direct to Macmillan.
