Hey Barry,
Thank you for taking your time out for us and donating your time for this worthy cause. I really felt that I had learned a life skill on Saturday and it was an absolute pleasure to attend.
This has to be one of the most well presented professional, training events I have ever been on. I've been on a lot!!!! I really enjoyed it and the drive to you in my new Dyno aquistition Battle Barge Mercedes was great! Love those roads.
I am looking for a welder and will be spending time perfecting my skills. I'll start with welding and then joining and finally panel forming and shaping.
I loved it.
I'll finish off with.. Your the MAN!

Great day out Barry, Very informative + worth the trip down from staffs (I think Richard [911flyboy] did Bath + back in one trip)!
Highly recommend that all those who didn't make this weekend go to the one planned for later in the year.

Not sure what more I can add! But just to say many thanks to Barry for sharing his skills and time with us. Haven't learnt so much in one day for a long time!
Also a pleasure, as always, to meet some more DDK'ers.

Hi Folks: well I have to say that the workshop feels very big, but very quiet today.
It really was a pleasure to see everyone over the weekend. It goes without saying that the DDK crowd made the event, with some amazing distances travelled, fantastic enthusiasm and atmosphere.
May I take this opportunity to thank everyone for attending, and for their generous donations. I'm delighted to be able to report that we raised 578 pounds for Macmillan. With Gift Aid, that works out at very nearly 740 pounds!!!
We have proved the concept of this event, and all being well (and subject to demand of course), the second and final weekend will take place around October 2007. There are a few improvements and refinements that will be detailed nearer the time.
In the meantime, happy welding and panel bashing: see you all soon,

A belated update.
Just to let you know, that following the event, somebody that had intended to donate the costs of materials caught up with me, and as they had missed the chance to buy the material, added a straight donation to the pot.
Therefore the current total for the Sheetmetal days is 628 pounds plus gift aid. As all donations were gift-aided, we're at 803 pounds plus some pennies. I have got a certificate here, that I will scan and post, confirming receipt of the above amounts.
News on the Autumn days to follow late summer, but I can confirm that they will happen, and I will do as many days as I can fill, same format, albeit slightly improved

O.K. Folks, as promised, I can confirm that there will be another weekend of these days. I'm chalking it in as October 13th and 14th '07, with the friday (12th) as a possible if the two weekend days get filled.
Same format as before, 4 people minimum to allow a day to run, six maximum. The location, terms, conditions, whys and wherefores will all be pretty much as per the earlier postings, although I'll refine the details nearer the time.
Again, I'm happy to run as many days over this weekend as needed: as it's a charity event (100% of donations once again going to Macmillan) the more the merrier. It doesn't matter whether you are a paid up member of DDK, or just a forum watcher. Similarly it doesn't matter whether you are about to approach a major resto, or just fancy a different day out, and have no intention of welding your own car (or yours has already been done for you
), all are welcome.
Attendees will once again be asked to sign a disclaimer, and there'll be a minimum donation of 30 pounds to Macmillan, although just about eveyone exceeded this last time which was great.
There're a few improvements to the format (which should allow a little more time for the 'interesting' side of sheel metal work), possible because everyone took to the welding so well last time, including many total beginners.
Perhaps those that have an interest can express it on this thread, please feel free to touch base with me should you have any queries.
