We seem to have hijacked John's thread. Where is a moderator when you need one?

Superb car - we could all do a Fjords run perhaps?

Bit further North than North Yorshire, but the ferry goes to Bergen (sp?) from Newcastle.

It's on my 'must do' list.....
2006 RHD 997 Carrera (but DDK remains in my heart - also now no longer)
1972 LHD 2.4T with '73 2.4T CIS motor - gone to a new DDK home
1994 RHD 993 Carrera - gone!
1968 LHD 911L - was the Wife's but now in new hands :-(

Why not go all the way and make it to North Cape. A friend of mine and his son did it this year on motorbikes, then headed in Russia

John, what is the truth on speed limits and their imposition in Norway?

Speed limits: I think that there is few countries in the world that finances "most" of their national budgets thru fining their citizens crazy high fines, like Norway. If you go 116kmh in a 80kmh zone you get about 650£ fine. 650£ fine applies to all speeding where you go 40-45% over the speed limit. If you go above this its straight of to prison. When it comes to organized crime, drugs, violence and burglary they get a pat on the back and in the worst cases a visit to the Norwegian prisons that resembles ok hotels. At least that is what a lot of foreigners say about Norwegian prisons. There are speed traps everywhere and the new ones measure your average speed between two boxes over a distance of several miles!! Driving and drinking is bad. In Norway you get a fine from 0.2 to 0.5, above 0.5 straight off to prison for some weeks and a months wages(gross) in fines!

Yes there is one ferry to Bergen(West coast) and one to Kristiansand(south tip of Norway) both fairly big cities in Norwegian terms. I have seen a Porsche badge from the 80’s where there was a run up to the North Cape thru Finland and Sweden, that was probably a grate trip. In Norway thou you have to be lucky with the weather, just like the east coast of Scotland.

There is a lot of nice roads in Norway when it comes to twists and turns , but remember the hefty fines! In the west coast there is a lot of fjords and mountains so you will be travelling on narrow road, climbs, steep downhill roads and altitudes. Also a lot of tunnels and ferries between the fjords. Many of these roads is not in the best condition.

And remember the blond Viking girls, not bad either.
