2 weeks To Go until DDK weekend edition 3 - final preparations underway

Post by Geordie71 »

With only two weeks to go until the best weekend of the year I visited the hotel on Friday in my 997 to check final preparations, agree the menu, agree the sitting plans for the group meal in the private room with our own dedicated bar on Saturday night and to test drive three out the four planned driving routes

Menus should hopefully be released early next week and you will have approximately one week to update your entry on Jot form

Route 1 - Saturday morning - hotel to caffeine n machine

Caffeine and machine is only 6 miles or nine minutes away from the hotel but for those that are interested, I have set up a one hour totally unnecessary just for fun drive the long way round from the hotel to caffeine and machine.

I am quite pleased with this route as it has some lovely fast sweepers, we go past the amazing castle pub, there’s a great bit of downhill road on the far side of Edgehill and there’s only one scary bit of single track road with three cattle grids, but the reward is a super cool old stone bridge on the other side. So far only Clive and myself staying at the hotel on Friday night so I’m not sure how many people will go straight to caffeine and machine but for anybody who wants to join us on Saturday morning for this one hour drive we will be leaving the hotel at approximately 9:30 am on Saturday morning to arrive at caffeine and machine by 10 thirty ish.

Everyone else please aim to arrive at Caffeine and machine between 1 10:30 and 11 am with the plan to have lunch at caffeine and machine before leaving at 1 pm-ish for Tuthills

Route two is a mostly direct 30 min route from caffeine and machine to Tuthills missing out the major roads and circumventing Banbury. Arriving at Tuthills on my test drive I was blown away by the cars outside and just can’t wait to go inside for the private tour. I think it’s gonna be mega.

Route three is a 60 minute drive home from Tuthill’s back to the hotel. The direct route is 30 odd minutes but if you wanna go on a reasonably enjoyable drive home you can join us for Route three once again going past the castle pub and some enjoyable roads on the way back to the hotel.

Once back at the hotel, we can mingle in the bar area for a couple of pints before meeting in our private “Hampton Suite” room at 7pm with starters being served at 730pm.

Music will be provided by Amazon music’s classic rock play list …. although I can be easily bribed with beer for your song of choice Image

The Sitting plan at the meal will be two banquet tables of 20 each positioned next to each other (like an = sign) so hopefully we will be much closer together as a group which will help the conversation and banter

Still a little bit of final work to do, but we will aim to get final information to everybody by next weekend with one week left to go

We hope you are excited as we are for Ddk weekend ed 3 Image

Ps we will have our private bar open until 12 midnight on Saturday night …. but I think it might be wise to close by 11am since we will all be driving to Megaphonics on Sunday morning.

I will design another Route 4 from hotel to Megaphonics …. But not done yet

PPS !!

The Hotel is concerned that they have had a surge of bookings through hotel.com for the Saturday night which may or may not be part of the Ddk 3 event …. which messes up our plans and payment options for the Saturday night meal.

So if you have booked your hotel room through Hotels.com or bookings.com please can you let me know as soon as possible please ?

Update — we finally have Saturday night menus. Please see attached photo.

In the next couple of days, the jot form will be updated with menu options and you will be asked to log back into Jot form and update your information with desired food options.

We need to get all menu options in by Wednesday next week three days before the event so the Hotel can order the correct amount of food so when you get the jot mail email please action ASAP

I think suggesting to close the bar at 11pm is very nanny state. We’re all adults here. Mostly 😀.

From experience over the last couple of weeks I’m surprised that you don’t have your own travelling Negroni kit Clive
