Jonathan: I think I entered the wrong class, but no probs, a fun weekend as you know. However, we are in a nice position in the paddock / program!
Major:
The first one is a real one-off.
The car is a Prosport that morphed into the Ultima I think. It would have had a Ford V6 at the time. The boat engine would normally be vertical

The engine there (USA origin) is a 6 pot 2 stroke boat engine and a CV box. It took an age to get it sorted, but ran out of pace for the owner/builder who I think became ill and the car was offered for sale several years ago.
The home spun engineering was quite something to see. Very hard to silence it too.

The second is a McLaren M12C, but there were 2 of them roaming around on the roads and hills, hence me not being too sure which of the 2 this one is, Jonathan may recall better. Car in my class belongs now to Geoff Tatham's son Dave. I think Dave's car is red, but not sure. Rare to see either.

The red car in the photo with your Lola is Tatham’s
McLaren M12C. It was built by McLaren purposely for hillclimbs, it’s never been raced on a circuit.
The orange one is owned by someone from London who regularly drives it up to Shelsley Walsh on the road!
That must be fabulous!

I don't know if it's the same car, but here is the M6GT that Martin Bolsover owned for quite some time.
The photo is from Classic Nostalgia some years ago, with our 911 in very classy company, David Franklin in the fabulous Ferrari 212, and Martin's McLaren.
David will be there again this year, driving his MGBGTV8 and telling some tall tales about how motor racing used to be!

The Ferrari was gob smacking and the only time I’ve known the hill commentators to be 100% quiet so as not spoil the sound…

My old 1951 Studebaker had three MOTs, but never once visited an MOT station! Fax the car details over, get the certificate in the post a couple of days later! Things were so much simpler back then...

I can't ever remember taking my Y Type for an MoT in the 70's, sure I did but all very low key.
Said it before, the 70's was a special decade.

Bit difficult having The Next Project in the shed, but could not resist a tinker with the engine, will it start after 20 years in a garage?

Charge the battery, clean the varnish out of the carb (twice), poked all the fine holes through bet as I could (need to borrow an US cleaner) and a new plug and fresh 99 octane.
Just to be sure, a good drowning in Easy-Start and after a few splutters it fired and din't run much, no tick-over.

Another carb clean and it is as sweet as a nut, nice result for today.

Back into the shed for the Autumn.
