Farewell Rolly Resos

Post by KS »

Saddened to hear that Rolly Resos passed away a couple of weeks ago. Rolly was a founder member of the RGruppe and one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet. I met him several times while in SoCal and was delighted to learn that he was an old school hot-rodder, in the process of building a Model A Ford rod, all the while driving his legendary red and white hot-rod 911. He was 94!

He was a true gent - when I bought a 911E engine from him, sight unseen, he was appalled to learn that it proved to be pretty much junk and immediately refunded my money. He would come out to some of the VW races in California to watch me race at Irwindale or Fontana, which I saw as a great honour. I shall miss him, as will so many Porsche guys across the world. RIP Rolly...

Sad to hear but a life well lived.

I met him whilst over at Rennsport Reunion ~ 15 yrs ago & was privileged to get a ride alongside him in his iconic car ...

RIP Rolly.

Sad news - I have no connection to him whatsoever but have read up, on many times, about him and his car. A true 911 legend

Unknown to me in every way, BUT, doing that at 94 years old gets my 100% respect.

A generation possibly that will never be seen again.

I recalled his name from the RGruppe book, so just pulled it out to have another read. He sounded like a cool dude. Never met him, but I sure would like to have heard some of his stories. RIP.

Sad to hear this. Rolly did a PPI on my car back in 2003 for $125 or £78 at the time! Re-reading it I probably should have passed on the car, in which case the 356 boat would have sailed
