Holes near N/S Battery Box

Post by DarthMJH »

Hi,

My 1973 RHD 911 is currently under restoration and have now got to the front end.

I have a question about the tank support panel, on the N/S, near the fuses.

The panel I have has one hole, which I assume is a fixing the charcoal cannister on a LHD car. (its not the battery strap hole)

Looking at another car is has 2 holes

And I have also seen no holes on a RHD car.

I can't use my old panel as a reference as a previous owner did some repairs to it.

I am struggling to find a picture from an original RHD 73 car to see what it should look like.

I would have thought Porsche would not have a made a LHD / RHD panel when the only difference is the holes.

Does anyone have any reference photos or an original RHD car?

Thanks for looking.
Mike

Try contacting Gary71 on here, I think he has a million pics of his 73T that might solve your question.

With the caveats of LHD and ‘72 this is what my car has Image

You can see the hole in the bare metal pic, middle one is just hiding under the battery strap

Cheers Gary. Any chance you can give me the diameter of the big hole and measurement of how far it is away from from the recessed part and the edge.

Hi Mike,
I have these on my 73 RHD and have also seen them on a very original unrestored 73 RHD car.
Kind regards

Cheers Gitesh. I’m glad you have seen an original one as I haven’t managed to find a picture online.

Hi Mike,
Here are some pics from my car. The larger hole is 16mm diameter.
