Dash trim

Post by leedurrant73 »

Hello folks,

Got some new dash trim to fit. The polished metal strip across the dash with basketweave.

What’s the best way to secure the aluminium strips to the dash?

Thanks Lee

I used a brush on trim adhesive to put the basket weave on the trims then thin 3M double sided tape to hold them onto the dash.

Lots of trial fits to make sure they all lined up and sat properly before committing!

Snap, me too.
Back in 1993, EVOstik for the material onto the alum strip, 2 side tape to the dash.

Only now just starting to release a bit, 33 years later.

I used the pressure activated trim tape between aluminum and the dash as well and can confirm- sticks like s***.
Recently, I had to remove the one where the hazard and light switches are to change the ignition lock and it was a right pain to get it off without damaging it. I put it back without the tape as I found that the switches retain it perfectly fine.
Maybe consider that to make future work in that area easier...

I fixed the whole of my early dashboard using black tack rather than using self tappers.
