Carrera 3.0 RS-inspired 1974 911

The Theory of Evolution.

This 911 is about the here and now – it is a sum of its parts, shaped and refined over time, yet still completely relevant more than 50 years since it first rolled off the production line.

Owned and driven by enthusiasts and reimagined by some of the most respected Porsche specialists in the UK, its transformation began in the mid-1980s, adopting the style of a Carrera 3.0 RS with wide arches, lightweight panels and polycarbonate glazing. From that point onwards it has continued to evolve over the decades, developing into the car you see today.

The engine has advanced to a 3.0-litre, twin-spark, carburetted 300 hp masterpiece, mated to a close-ratio 5-speed 915 transmission with Quaife limited-slip differential. Built to a fastidiously high standard, the accompanying history file contains reams of invoices and detailed parts lists.

Now wearing its original factory orange jacket once again, riding on Bilstein suspension, sitting on wide Fuchs alloys and wearing chubby Toyo Proxes tyres all round, and utilising 930 Turbo twin-pot brakes.

A stripped-out interior features a rear roll cage, Recaro Pole Position bucket seats with Willans 4-point harnesses, lightweight door cards, a fire extinguisher, plus brake bias control switch.

This is a 911 that has evolved over decades in the hands of those who simply wanted to make it better – and one that its next owner may continue to shape as they wish. Its story need not end here.

If you are looking for a garage queen, this is not the car for you.
It is not flawless; it is not perfect – but it is ready for the simple thrill of driving.
