Replacing points with electronic alternative.
Complete novice here with regards to Dizzy/points/ignition.
My 69 911t is fitted with a classic retrofit Cdi+ box and I am looking to change the points for an electronic alternative ultra spark or power spark, a magnetic alternative that is easily fitted to the existing distributor with no drilling etc and is easily reversible.
Fitting seems straight forward but is there anything else I need to worry about, new coil for example?
Any info/thoughts appreciated.

Many thanks, I’m not married to any particular system just to replace mechanical points.
Perhaps a well sorted point system is fine for general road use….. my intended use, I was considering the change for less maintenance and hopefully improved starting.

What about going for a 123ignition? If I ever get my car back on the road it's something I would consider doing.

I have the 123 on my Alfa Gt Junior and it works well. I wasnt sure if using it in conjunction with the CDI+ box was suitable/overkill and they are pretty pricey.
Alternatively I could just get my original rebuilt and stick with points. My car does want to stall when it gets warm and it was suggested it may be the dizzy hence an additional reason to look at something else and/or get it rebuilt.

I thought Jonny's cdi box have an advance curve so you can lock the distributor?

I installed a Pertronix unit on my 911E years ago, and am very happy with it.

On the E Type I must admit but the Powerspark module that replaced the points made a real difference for me….. I think that the shaft on my refurbished distributor was possibly not spinning perfectly true so I read sufferiung a constant misfire….at the risk of it failing tonight as I write this……i am two drives out so far and she is perfect

Ditto for me. I've also got Pertronix in my old BMW and it made a huge difference to the way that car ran. Noticed it less in the 911, but points seem a very imprecise and weak link to me in the 21st century !
