Would a Targa roof panel be able to support two spare wheels & tyres?
I'm just thinking about spares for the Monte, and it seemed like a good idea, to buy another Targa roof and 'covert' it to carry two bolted on spares
And does anyone have a tatty but solid spare panel?
I think that Angus at Greaworth has a spare. I guess that you would need to significantly strengthen the roof and attaching points for a targa roof to carry any weight. I could see you losing everything on the first bump. However, chat with Angus he will have an better opinion and way forward

Are you taking part in the event, or spectating?
As it is an FIA event, then the Targa roof would need to be homologated to take spare wheels in that location. Otherwise secured properly inside the car.
We're doing the regularity, not competition.
No homologation issues. It would be very cool to have twin spares on the roof, and yes, it'd need some bracing to support two tyres.
Not impossible though!
I would of thought better on the boot and more aero?

I think a good idea - if you can get a spare 914 targa top- dont know what sort of money but much simpler than 911 tops so probably cheaper.
Then set one up for one/two spares specifically for rallying and use the other normally.
Have seen pictures of 914s set up for Baja like this- a google search will find..................
My 914 came with two tops, one with a very 70/80s tilting/removable glass sunroof - god knows why - I have yet to use it!!
BTW you can actually get two spare wheels in the front..................

So,
I've finished the roof and it works!!!
Liveried up like the works cars of the 70's.
Winter wheels & tyres fitted too.
I think we're all ready for the Monte now, all rally equipment fitted and tested, spares package sorted - raring to go
