Very much to my surprise the heater/vent controls are working after 35 years ignoring them.

Thought I would have to remove the slide switch/selector 'module' from the dash and fight the wires and the cables.

However..

Moved all the sliders to the left, slackened the front RHS wire couplings and ensured really all the free lengths of the bowden cables were protruding from the clamp screws to a minimum.

Tightened everything and checked I had total travel of the flaps and control slider knobs, and the lot now works!

About 30 mins.

While there on the RHS I undid the 6 mm earth to chassis, cleaned it all. Been static for 32 years, so a clean would be good. The brass eye was as shiny as when I cleaned it all those years ago.

Found I had left the carbon petrol condenser box in the corner under the dash, so with a bit of a struggle removed that. Should be one rattle less.

Brakes arrive Tuesday along with the CV gaskets which will be the job early next week if the weather is good (can't do these jobs in the garage because the Lola is asleep in there). :cyclops:

Things are never easy!
Parts arrived from Design911 today and the front pads are wrong, rest of the parts all OK.

TBH this is very unusual in my experience over many years, so i hope they can get the right parts to me.
They supplied Bosche front pads with the Brembo front discs and they are really thick.
The 2 pads, the disc as a sandwich is 4mm too wide to fit the A callipers.

Never had this problem before.

We shall see how this all works out!

At least I can fit the brakes and re-fit the inner CV joint gasket that I think is broken due to my difficulty getting it in place.

Hope to get it all done and waiting for the pads before the end of the week.

Is it only me who gets these snags?

Oddly, Design911 could not (or try) to resolve the wrong pads being sent to me.

In the end I returned (at my cost) the Bosch pads to them and arranged a refund. We will see if that happens.

Have ordered some Brembo pads for the A/S callipers from type911 who confirm they are available. Hope to get them mid next week to complete the brake refresh job.

Fitted the new rear discs and pads (all Brembo) with ease, and by releasing the banana arm hose connection managed to wriggle the calliper free to release the old disc without breaking the hydraulic joints 9so no bleeding).
All went together quickly.
Did the fronts too without breaking the hydraulics, so no bleeding at all. Pity I  have no pads!
Mrs Hillclimber happy!

So now the 911 is all done and can be laid-up for the winter until late March unless a nice day or so arrives salt-free.

Correct Brembo pads arrived from Type911 in 48 hours, now in the car and the pedal is good as it was.

So this saga of wrong assessment comes to an end, the car can be wrapped=up for the winter period and then the oil changed in March and fresh tyres fitted.

Job Done.
