New owner 1970 911
Hi all, I've been a member for a while, but not done much in the way of posting.
I had a 1989 3.2 which I sold last summer, a decision that I regretted as soon as it was gone. I've been looking for something to replace it with for a while, Typically Paul put his up for sale when we were away on holiday, and it was sold before I could get down to him. Thankfully Paul passed on my details to the trader that bought the car, he got in touch and after he finally decided to sell it on, we made a deal which I thought was reasonable.
Drove down with my son half way on Thursday evening, continued on Friday morning to meet up the trader, called Dom, the following morning in Wokingham. After a check round the car and a quick test drive we went ahead and bought it. A bit of a delay with the bank transfer, but that gave us time to load the original engine and a couple of boxes of spares into the hire car, and to get some lunch. Left for the long drive home around 15:30
It was a very hot day to be driving, but all went well, a few stops on the way and a road closure at Perth that we could have done without. However, we got home around 01:30 with no issues.
We never took many photos on the way home, but went out with it yesterday and have a few from then. Very happy with the car, Paul has done a great job building and looking after it.

There was a young lad at the side of the road taking photos while we were there, he took a few of the car, we stopped and had a chat with him, nice guy.
He's just starting out with his Instagram page, I'm sure he'd appreciate some likes and follows if you have the time to have look.

Great to hear the car has ended up with an enthusiast and wish you many fun miles in it.

Re: New owner 1970 911
Just done a few things since getting it home, nothing major.
Cleaned up the rear brakes, bit of a squeal sometimes, adjusted the drivers seatbelt, it was trying to strangle me on the way home.
Noticed a very slight rub from the outside of the NSR tyre when out driving at the weekend. Have swapped the front and rear spacers and there was a 2mm difference between them. Not had time to go out and see if it makes any difference yet, to either the rubbing or the way it drives.

Mine rubs ever so slightly on cornering. Never caused me any problems.

1988 3.2 Carrera backdate, Black
2001 996 Turbo, Lapis blue (am I allowed to put that here?)
I'm looking for a pre-impact bumper 911S or other high-revving 911 to restore - please let me know if you see one.

Re: New owner 1970 911
I'm really glad it went to someone who's going to use and abuse it as it should be. Obviously a shame it was flipped.
Front wheels are 7mm shims, which are required for the 7R wheels. I thought the rears were the same.
BTW: The front and rear torsion tubes are 22 and 26mm elephant racing. I didn't mention that on the spec.
I'd be happy to catch up if you have any questions: 07454 278098.

Hi Paul, thanks for that. I do have a couple of questions and I’d very much like to keep in touch.
I’m offshore on an intervention vessel at the moment, but I can give you a call when I get in, hopefully at the end of next week.
Regards,
Stuart.

Re: New owner 1970 911
Well, as much as I loved driving this car I'm sad to report I just couldn't keep it, I have tinnitus and there was something on the car that keyed right into it.
A real shame as it's one of the best cars I've had so far, on certain roads perhaps the best.
So, a few days ago this happened, and it's off to a dealer. Hopefully it finds a new lucky buyer soon.
