Front & rear indicator light fitting
Hello,
The securing screws I removed from the housings during strip down were just self tappers?
Is the correct for a 69t or would there be a special screw or bolt?
One other question. Where is the best place to run the brown earth wire for front a rear?
Thanks for the help.

.
No, self tappers are not correct - the lamp housings are secured to the body using machine screws (but I can't remember whether they're M5 or M6) which screw into captive nuts.
These captive nuts are often corroded so owners resort to using self tappers.
At the front the brown wire goes to the earthing stud on the side of the battery box.

M5 machine screws, cheese headed in my case (73T)
I used stainless steel last rebuild (about 5 years ago) of the light units, not sure if that was a good idea, but better than plated mild steel which corrode badly and strip the delicate alloy housings when unscrewd.

Re: Front & rear indicator light fitting
Hello guys.
Anyone know the size of wire for the brown earth cables on the light housings?
Unsure what diameter and if you include the brown sleeving when measuring.
I want to extend the cable length. Looks like the person who fitted the housings originally secured them to the back of the housing. (Very short)
I want to go original and secure it the bumper supports bolts.
Was thinking 4mm brown earth wire?
Thanks

Re: Front & rear indicator light fitting
Snip the end of the wire and count the number of strands…then go onto autosparks web site (for example) and match to their selection

Re: Front & rear indicator light fitting
I just used the same size wire as the 12V supply to the units or bigger for the ground wire to chassis.

I think captive nuts are still available from Porsche and the part # is 999 507 312 12Lightweight_911 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 7:52 pm .

Screws (aftermarket) are available from Stoddard

Rubber spacers would also be required but I don't know the part # for that.

Front & rear indicator light fitting
Hello,
Thanks. I used chimney nuts. They’re in now and look quite nice. Didn’t use any spacer though.
Thanks Lee

Agree, the rear 'nerf' bar is a very nice feature, very different to see.
