Indicator Lens seals front and rear

Do I need to glue the seals or or just position in place?

I glued mine (1973T original units) with EVO Stick just to tack them to the groove on the lamp castings.
The seals were real Porsche parts.
Did that in 1989 and still ok.

EVO stick is not a high adhesive strength in this case so the seal can 'roll' a little to find a good setting position when bolted up.

The units have been out of the car 4 times in 36 years and slipped back in every time.

Getting a good fit has a lot to do with the dimensional quality of the seal itself.

I had to slice mine all around with a razor to make them thin enough so the lens wasn’t sitting stupidly proud. Actually I think I used scissors

Sladey, Where did you buy your seals from?

Sorry can’t remember now - it was from one of the usual suspects. They were always sitting too proud so eventually I cut them. On speaking to Gary he did the same on his.

If you don’t do it the lenses sit really proud and look a bit crap. My guess is that repro seals are harder material than originals which may have washed nicely back in the day. Got no evidence to back that up - it’s just a theory

Thanks guys. The reason I ask is the seals I bought a while back are pants. They’re too big?

Looks like I should buy original Porsche.

There are some remanufactured on design 911 which say best product. May be an option?

Hello,

Been doing some mock up fitting with front grills. I have a gap between the edge of the grill and light housing but when I fit the housing with rubber seal it takes up most of the space.

Is this normal?
