Chassis/Engine numbers

Post by johnM »

Hi

how can you find if your car has its original engine or not, my car has the correct type of engine and the correct year for the car but the engine number is around 1000 later.

Kind regards John

You need to try your local porsche dealer they can (for a fee in most cases) write you a letter confirming the original engine number and car spec that the car had when it left the factory.

Matching numbers does not mean the engine and vin serial match it just means the engine number matches the original engine number as it left the factory.

Pay a fiver to the DVLA and you may be lucky and get the original log book if it is still in their file. Mine was and shows the engine number matches the one still in the car.
